Classroom Management Plan

School Wide Expectations

Classroom Expectations

  1. Attentive listening

  2. Focus & stay on task.

  3. Follow instructions the first time they’re given.

  4. Keep hands and feet to oneself.

  5. Always use a positive tone of voice.

  6. Always try your best!  (No giving up!)

 

Consequences

1. First Action: Warning given

 

2. Second Action: Refocus Area

  • Students sent to a quiet area in the classroom to reflect.

  • Teacher debriefs with student.

 

3. Third Action: Loss of recess

  • Student will lose recess time, anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes.

  • Student will write a reflection letter to be sent home & signed by parents.

  • Teacher will contact parents.

 

   4. Fourth Action: Student is sent to the office.

  • If all of the above actions are ineffective OR the behavior is critical (harmful to student health/safety) student will be sent to the office.

  • Student will be given an office referral.

 

Rewards

  • Verbal praise, lunch with teacher, note/telephone call, etc.

 

AVID Planner

  • Homework is written in their planner every day and must be signed everyday by a parent/guardian.

  • If you have any questions or concerns, please attach a note in your child’s AVID Planner and have him/her show it to the teacher.

  • Please encourage your child to keep their planner in a safe place.

  • An online AVID binder is accessible for your child as a resource if homework is not copied correctly or legibly.

 

Homework Policy

  • Homework is given everyday and is written down in their AVID Planner.

  • If your child is missing homework, the missing assignments will be noted and they will use morning/lunch recesses to complete the assignment(s).

  • Please remember to pick-up homework request from the school office if your child

 

Water

Please provide water bottles (with their names on). It gets very hot and the students need to be hydrated. A water jug with ice cold water will be provided to refill their bottles. No juice or sodas.

 

Snacks

  • Our lunch is at 11:00 am but if you would like, you can send your child with a snack that can only be eaten during morning recess.

  • PLEASE, NO SODAS/JUICE OR CANDY

  • Dried saimin and gum are not allowed at school.

*Sharing of food is not allowed for sanitary and allergy reasons.

 

Attendance

  • Careful notes and special procedures are taken if your child is chronically late or absent.

  • Students must enter class at 7:45 am or they will be marked tardy. Students who arrive after 8:00am must check in at the office.

  • Please remember to pick up homework requests from the school office when your child is absent.

 

Other

  • Anything of value should be kept at home.  Your child is responsible for the valuables they bring to school.

  • Pogs, Kendamas, Fidget Spinner/Cubes: only allowed to be played with before and after school, NOT during recess.  Your child is responsible for 

    • Betting or playing for keeps is NOT ALLOWED.  

  • Phones, tablets, electronic games are prohibited. Emergency phone calls out during school hours should be done either at the front office or classroom phone.
